For Undergraduates

What is Berkeley Connect?

Berkeley Connect is a 1‑unit, P/NP academic mentorship program open to all UC Berkeley undergraduates. No prerequisites, no exams, no papers, and no homework.

What you’ll do:

  • Meet regularly with a graduate mentor for supportive small‑group conversations and 1:1 check‑ins.

  • Connect with peers who share your interests and explore your academic field in a relaxed, welcoming community.

  • Talk through your academic goals, discover research opportunities, and learn about different career paths

  • Access special events—like career and graduate school panels, performances, workshops, and more—that help you see what’s possible beyond the classroom.

How to Enroll:

  1. Enroll like any class — Sign up for Berkeley Connect when course registration opens, just as you would for any other course.
  2. Choose your level — First‑years and sophomores enroll in 98BC; juniors and seniors enroll in 198BC.
  3. Pick a department of interest — Join through any of the participating departments; you do not need to be a major to participate.
  4. Find available sections — In the Berkeley Class Schedule(link is external), select “Course Type: Berkeley Connect Course” in the left column, or search for 98BC or 198BC.
  5. Join any semester — Enroll in Berkeley Connect whenever you’d like extra support—from your first semester to your last—and you’re welcome to participate more than once.
